Bury the Bourbon

Have you heard of this tradition? The couple must visit their wedding site exactly one month prior to the ceremony and bury a full bottle of bourbon upside down in order to ward off rain. Lindsey and Walter followed the tradition and it worked! The rain had started to gently come down. We made a decision to begin the ceremony, stood about 10 feet from the buried bourbon, and the sun came out. Y’all, I’m not even kidding- THE SUN CAME OUT even though the forecast was for 100% rain at that time. Don’t mess with southern tradition.

Besides all that excitement, it was a joy to officiate for Lindsey and Walter. I’ve known Lindsey for several years, as well as her sister Taylor. This beautiful ceremony was a perfect family-centered occasion. And that bourbon helped us with perfect weather.
